First, we built the shoe out of the lightest material available that would still hold up to the rigors of a daily pounding. Then, by venting the sole, we not only make them cooler, we continued to shave weight. The result? One of the lightest shoes your feet will ever have the pleasure to meet. How it Works
Agion's customized antimicrobial solutions incorporate silver ions in a zeolite carrier. The silver ions exchange with other positive ions (often sodium) from the moisture in the environment, affecting a release of silver "on demand". The patented multi-faceted zeolite crystal carrier provides a three dimensional release mechanism (Figure 1) that provides efficient release of silver ions independent of particle orientation in the substrate. ![]() Figure 2 shows the ion exchange process. Zeolite crystals containing silver ions are randomly oriented and distributed through the surface of a fiber, polymer or coating. In conditions that support bacterial growth, positive ions, in ambient moisture, exchange with silver ions at reversible bonding sites on the zeolite. The exchanged silver ions are now available to control microbial growth.

Silver ions attack multiple targets in the microbe to prevent it from growing to a destructive population. Channels have been placed on the outsole that are engineered to move ground water laterally away from the shoe. The channels significantly increase the volume of evacuated water and reduce moisture intrusion vertically into the shoe. Vents
Our unique venting pattern and vent size offers maximum air circulation while ensuring a structurally sound outsole. Other vented products use venting systems that compress under the weight of a step enough to significantly reduce air circulation. PIRO's US Patent-pending venting solution is produced using sound structural engineering principles and does not flatten out when worn. The design also maximizes vented surface area for superior circulation and comfort. Slip-Resistant
PIRO LLC references a SCOF (Static Coefficient of Friction) of .50 Dry and .40 Wet as the standard for slip-resistant footwear using the ASTM F1677 test condition. The PIRO outsole tests at .54 for dry and .44 for wet. For comparison purposes, the US Postal Service has set their standard for SCOF at .50 Dry. Other companies who specialize in slip-resistant products for Industrial use have set their standards in a similar fashion. Independent lab test results are available upon legitimate request.
